By George, we’ve got webinars!

Perhaps a bit behind the times but better a late bloomer than not at all – that is what I say!

The trade compliance community has hit a growth spurt and I’ve got to tell you that I am loving all the timely webinars and virtual networking that is going on! Service providers, trade attorneys and, yes, even the mighty government is starting to get into the game of offering up spoonfuls of relevant information is leading an unprecedented outreach effort to engage and educate the importers and exporters right here in the USA. Now, some require a fee and some require that the eager trade professional download an online meeting program but others are FREE and are run virtually all online.

Most recently and perfectly timed was attorney George Tuttle’s webinar today titled “Mandatory AES: How The Census Bureau’s New Export Rules Will Affect Your Company” (http://www.tuttlelaw.com/seminar/mandatory_aes.pdf) was a perfectly timed post on Census’ June 2nd posting of the final rule in the Federal Register. Great example of an informative session chock full of good information and even a bit of charisma to boot – Mr. Tuttle actually stopped mid-statement to grab a glass of water for his moderator sidekick who was most likely a bit choked up with the over-active audiences ability to ask realtime questions and answers. In my mind’s eye I could actually see him running out of the room, down the hall and rescuing his colleague. Entertainment value to say the least. Well done, George, and thanks!

To all you other trade compliance professionals out there, here’s a word to the wise…take advantage of these online sessions!! Now, for all you service providers, take a page out of the 21st century communications handbook and start webinaring! However, for you, George, thanks and keep up the great work!
